Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners and physician associates who specialize in primary care family medicine, internal medicine, endocrinology, or obstetrics and gynecology and are involved in the management of patients with obesity.
Learning Objectives
- Evaluate current guidelines to diagnose and manage all patients with obesity in primary care settings.
- Assess how to create individualized treatment plans for patients with obesity using pharmacologic, lifestyle, behavioral strategies, and bariatric surgery.
- Identify barriers that impede access to obesity pharmacotherapies and how to overcome these barriers.
- Examine patient-centered communication and shared decision-making strategies to improve patient adherence.
- Evaluate emerging pharmacotherapies for the management of patients with obesity.
- Review interprofessional and multidisciplinary management strategies to improve the long-term, effective care for patients with obesity through real-world case scenarios

American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM): This course will qualify for Group Two CME credit hours for ABOM certification. Candidates may submit up to 30 Group Two hours toward the 2027 examination administration.
